Norway

Norway, located in Northern Europe, has long been known for being at the forefront of technological advancements. Over the years, this has been made possible by numerous organizational initiatives, including the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium, a partnership between 8 universities, three university colleges, and four research institutes in the fields of AI, machine learning, and robotics.

Enhancing Norwegian innovation, research, and teaching in these areas is also the main goal of the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Society (NAIS). This open, non-profit organization works to increase interest in Norwegian AI domestically and abroad, aiming to operate as a hub for communication and collaboration between the members and the general public.

As part of Norway’s effort to keep moving forward in artificial intelligence, the country established NorwAI, a center for research-based innovation financed by the Research Council of Norway. The center’s mission is to provide cutting-edge theories, methodologies, and technology for the responsible, ethical, and successful use of data-driven AI in novel industrial solutions.(1)

Subtle Medical: The Leader in AI-Powered Image Enhancement

Subtle Medical is a company that focuses on improving medical imaging and was founded in 2017. Subtle Medical has focused on developing software that will help reduce noise in imaging and scans. Noise in scans can contribute significantly to misdiagnosis as the care provider may be unable to identify an issue by assuming that the presentation is caused by noise on the scan. This technology will significantly enhance the diagnostic process, which is crucial in improving the successful treatment of most conditions.(3,4)
